[RESOLVED] Incident: Issues accessing apps 2025-12-11

On all my production anvil apps - I get very long load times and eventually errors out.

Anyone experiencing the same thing this morning?

Yes. It started with just a few of my apps, seems to be all of them now. They run fine in the IDE but are slow or don’t run at all using the other links.

I have a business critical app not working for a client, and my workaround for them was to open a new branch and share with my client the development URL. Obviously not ideal but they now have access to my site / their data.

Hopefully anvil can resolve this outage soon. I am guessing development environments are managed separately from production environments which is why one is out and not the other.

yes down. not loading new instances but anyone who already had the app open can continue using it (until it goes offline and forces them to refresh). :frowning:

Good Work Around. I’ve been with anvil for about 3 years now and I’ve learned if you’re serving business critical applications you should strongly consider paying for a dedicated server plan OR serving on your own server.

All my tools are currently company internal , so I have a bit more grace, but when I’m transitioning to external, its a must do. This happens a few times a year.

We’re aware and looking!

@anthonys Yes - I am learning that for sure. And eventually I will host my own anvil server instance I just need time to test that and figure that out. But yeah 100% agree with you, its seeming to happen a small handful of times per year now.

@meredydd - Thank you!

Links to broken apps welcome! All our test ones are running frustratingly smoothly…

I see that’s (a) a custom domain (b) hosted via Cloudflare - is that also true of other people in this thread?

It is true for me. -----

OK, that might explain why we didn’t see it in testing. Rollback of latest configuration change in progress, should resolve it.

Appears I am back online now

Working again - thanks

Apps are back. Post-mortem scheduled. Palms will be applied to faces in due course once root-caused.

Admin note: Merging threads to tidy up; this incident is now resolved.

Have some old apps that haven’t been changed in a while that started failing today. These are using the Users service with Microsoft login and using custom domain. The login popup threw an error, " The app you requested could not be loaded.".

I’ve also seen some apps just not load at all and throw an error “AppOfflineError: Connection to server failed (error)”.

They seem to work when run in the IDE, but not when using the custom domain or the Anvil generated URL.

Is anyone else seeing odd behavior like this today?

Yes I’m receiving the following for my old applications as well:

Still seeing issues with the MS login popup throwing the error mentioned before.

Once again, this is working fine everywhere we’ve tested so far! Do you have any clues that might help us?
