No AI agent for anvil right now ?
ai agent is impotant
Not directly in the IDE, no.
But you can use anvil-cli to sync your code to your local machine, and then use something like Cursor (which I use) or claude code to work on it locally.
Works pretty well for me. Creates forms and front/back end code. Not perfect but a pretty good stop gap for now.
Come and join us next week. Some of us are building Anvil apps with AI agents right now!
I’d put it above a “stop gap for now.” ![]()
There’s nothing to compare it to yet, but I don’t really feel like I’m missing anything. The nice part is that I can literally drag a button in the browser and, in the same moment, ask my AI tool to move another one somewhere else, both working on the same form without any kind of commit or save in between. That kind of back-and-forth just feels very natural.
I also like that I can stick to my own setup. I already have tools I’m comfortable with, and this lets me use them with Anvil instead of having to learn and adapt to whatever gets built into the browser.
Sure, better AI autocomplete inside Anvil could be useful, but I’m not convinced it would beat a workflow like this that I already use everywhere else.
Good ol’ English understatement ![]()
@stefano.menci is right - using the AI tool of my choice (and sometimes many of them) - or more accurately using the workflow I’m used to - probably beats learning a new one just for Anvil.
