What is the difference between these two buttons?
Both buttons seem to link the same page: /logs/background-tasks
And when that page opens, Chrome becomes unresponsive. I need to click on the x
to close the tab and wait a minute or two before it completes the tab closing.
Hi, @stefano.menci,
You are correct that both buttons shouldn’t be displayed at the same time! I’ve added this to our list and it should be fixed soon.
As for Chrome becoming unresponsive, the same isn’t happening to me, so it might be due to the volume of previous background tasks in your app. Are you able to clear finished background tasks, or are you not able to load the page at all? And if you are able to, does that solve the issue?
I rebooted my computer and now the page is much quicker. It still keeps Chrome hanging for 5-6 seconds, but I can quickly close the tab without waiting minutes. (That 5-6 seconds pause allows to work, but is still slightly annoying.)
Maybe I can clear the finished tasks, but… I don’t want to
The log is there because I may need it later.
The background task log in that app has 1143 entries and starts two years ago. Clicking on the “View logs” button only works until about 3 months ago.
I’m not going to investigate anything from 2 years ago, especially considering that there is no log available, but I may need to investigate something that happened a week or two ago.
Perhaps it should automatically clear the old tasks when their logs are no longer available, and/or load the list dynamically, so one doesn’t risk to click on the “Vew all” button and hang Chrome while loading thousands of useless entries.
