Slowdown in Firefox

Sometimes it takes upwards of 10 seconds to switch to the IDE tab in FF on Ubuntu (71.0)

What can I do to help diagnose the issue? It seems to degrade over time, and shutting down anvil ide seems to clear the issue for a while.

I’m still not 100% sure that the ide is the issue, but it does seem coincident.

See attached GIF. I can move around all the pages but when I click the Anvil IDE tab, it takes ages to load. The gif is a bit jerky, but it should give you an idea. It survives being refreshed, but if I reboot FF it’s all ok for a bit.

Hrm…does it improve at all if you close and reopen your app, or refresh the Anvil tab? (The only thing I can think of is that it might be accumulating a lot of undo history). How consistent is this issue? I’ve polled our Firefox users here, and none of them have experienced this before…

(And your taste in radio is excellent! I’m personally a fan of the Toksvig era…)

It appeared to survive everything except restarting the browser. I’ll see what I can tie down.

Are there any recommended tools to show tab resources? I’m sure there used to be but I can’t seem to find any now,

I could listen to all these episodes on repeat and still find them both relevant and funny. I love them all but if I had to choose I might have to say Alan Coren (edit though he wasn’t a presenter, I loved the way Simon Hoggart & he interacted)

Ok, here’s a sequence of events -

When it’s already happening …
if you close the app you have open in the IDE & refresh the tab, you will be able to switch to and from this tab without issue. However, the moment you open a new app in the same IDE tab (any app, small or large as far as I have been able to determine) the problem will return. Only restarting the browser will make the issue go away for “a while”.

To make it start happening …
no idea yet, but it’s definitely a recent thing.

That’s about all I’ve got so far.
