Once you have created the A record, Anvil will complete the configuration their end. This can take a day or two to propagate and should redirect correctly once done.
So as long as you have completed the steps in the docs, it should go through.
As for point 4, most hosting companies provide SSL as standard but you should definitely check this for your domain
I did everything as instructed, the A name record is added to my namecheap domain. Ive activated the ssl as well but i am unsure how to install it onto the anvil app. I saw in some other similar posts where staff replied that they take care of ssl’s themselves. Is is indeed still a case ? So far its been roughly 24 hours since i’ve made the record, I get the ssl cert error if i go to my domain, and it still redirects to the homepage of anvil
If you have the SSL on your domain that should be fine. Anvil’s end will be well looked after by them so nothing more to do for you.
I would give it a little longer. I would also check that you don’t have any other records that would point to another IP address. I have had a problem with host gator where a sub domain had a conflicting record and it would not redirect correctly until I deleted that record.
I don’t think this is the issue in your case since it is redirecting to Anvil. I would just sit tight as I am sure that Anvil will get it done as soon as they have an opportunity. They are in the UK so time zones and the weekend may factor in to this.
I observed the same behavior, but the issue is temporary. It takes a while for the setup to complete.
Once its done, you will receive an email from Anvil with the title “Your Anvil App domain is ready”, and your domain will resolve correctly to your app.
