What I’m trying to do:
What I’ve tried and what’s not working:
for back ground I am a blind Dev that is pretty new to anvil.
I made some components that have seemed to glitch out.
I want to delete them or at least do something but when I hover on them with the mouse it says that they are unavailable.
No matter what I tried I could never get anvil to select them.
all help is welcome
Welcome to Anvil!
If you’re able to share a clone link, we could take a look and see what might be going on. Unfortunately, the information you’ve given isn’t enough to know what might be going wrong. I’m assuming you’re using specific screen reading software, and it’s interacting with the Anvil IDE in some fashion. Without knowing how that’s supposed to happen, we can’t say why it might have stopped happening (assuming it was working and then stopped working).
What do you mean by “it says”?
Please let us know if you are you using some non default accessibility option, otherwise it’s difficult to figure out where the problem is and try to help.
I understand, I will try to send a clone link but i should tell you that I use NVDA. screen reader however; I do not think it relevant sense I’ve been navigating using the mouse like a normal user
and other than the strange inability to select components I have not ran in to accessibility issues at all.
to make it clear this is something that came up after I worked on the project for a bit and after I tried to edit the back ground color of a text box and a button.
I could not find a way to clone or at least not with out making a new thread
so I will just give you the project link
It only has about an hours worth of work put in; wurst case I can just restart
link :
yes I see the issue now.
I just mean that my screen reader is telling me that the button or text is unavailable or dimmed.
and no I am using default anvil settings… no alt access options
The Anvil IDE will present buttons as disabled if the properties in the IDE say they should be disabled when the app is run. You can still select the button in the IDE even though it looks disabled, but the screen reader might not recognize that (not sure how it detects that something is disabled).
The link you posted is your link to the IDE, not a clone link. Here’s the link to the docs on where to find the clone link Anvil Docs | Cloning Apps unfortunately that page relies heavily on screenshots so I’m not sure how much it’ll help.
Have you tried selecting the widgets from the Component Tree section in the right-hand side panel?
I will try that. As far as I can tell it dose not let me select them in the designer.
thanks for the suggestion .
I also have had the problem on the back burner for a bit, and I have a theory: I realized that the components that glitched were the one I tried to change the background of using Hexsocode I think that is what messed them up.
the link for real this time:
Which specific components are you having issues with? I see only three on Form1, and can select all of those in the designer.
I solved it!
thanks all of you for working with me
and a special
thanks to @nickantonaccio for reminding me that the component tree exists
Hi @jakeogleason,
Glad you got this sorted! However, we are still interested in whatever issue caused you problems selecting components. Now we have the new designer, the Anvil Editor should be fully navigable with screen reader, so if something doesn’t work we want to know!
