Data storage on the plans

I was wondering if there were any plans to allow a la carte pricing for extra storage in data tables?

I recently used Anvil to allow contestants in a video game programming contest for middle schoolers to submit their games using a nice web interface, rather than emailing them to me (and risking files getting blocked by spam filters, etc). The project was easy to put together in Anvil, but I quickly ran into problems with storage limits.

I had 10 contestants submit games. None were large, but all together they would take up about 30 MB of data storage. On the current paid plans, that means I could only have three contests’ worth of data in the hobby plan. While I am working on a project that might generate some income and sponsor an increase to the higher level plans, this game programming contest isn’t it.

It’d be nice to be able to pay for some inexpensive extra storage. Ideally it’d be S3 level pricing with a markup for Anvil, so that I could use Anvil for these data heavy but compute light sorts of applications.

Otherwise, it looks like I’ll need to store my media in S3 directly, and store links to the S3 buckets in my Anvil data tables. I’d gladly pay Anvil a markup on S3 pricing to avoid the hassle of doing that myself.

I’m a bit late to the game, but is Google Dive storage an option? I’ve been considering this myself.

You can use folders from your Google Drive from inside Anvil. Details are here: https://anvil.works/docs/integrations/google/google-drive
