I have an App published on a custom domain and am using the Custom Mail Server feature to send emails through Google SMPT (smtp.gmail.com, port 587) using a Google Workspace account. As we know, authentication is done through an email address and password. For authentication to work in this environment, the Workspace sending account’s Security settings must be set to “Allow Less Secure Apps”.
According to Google, changes will start happening starting June 15, 2024 and beginning September 30, 2024, third-party apps (e.g. Anvil) that use only a password to access Google Workspace Accounts will no longer be supported. If I read it correctly, it will mean that we can no longer use an email address and password for authentication when using the Custom Mail Server and the Google SMTP protocol with a Workspace account.
Will this be addressed so we can continue to use a Google Workspace account and SMTP with the Custom Mail Server in Anvil?
