[CLOSED] Feature Request: 2FA / MFA on Login to IDE

It would be nice from a security perspective to have MFA / 2FA on the dev login. My reasoning behind this is that I could create the most secure app in the world. However if my Dev credentials were to get compromised then someone could log into the IDE and look at all the data etc and get access to the apps. If we have 2FA this just adds an extra security measure to that login.

Great feature request!

Agreed - this is/would be great! We would like and intend to support this.

In the meantime, here are two ways to maximise the security of your Anvil account:

  • Use a password manager like Lastpass or 1Password. Generate a long, strong password for Anvil (use the password reset form if you need to change yours). Some password managers already support 2FA.

  • If you have a GMail/GSuite email address, log into Anvil with Google (click “More login options” under the Anvil login form). Google accounts can be configured with strong 2FA. Once you’ve done that, you can change your password to a long random string, or email support@anvil.works and we will disable password-based login for you entirely.

As I say, we do plan to implement 2FA for Anvil (both the IDE and built-in to the Users service), but these should help you in the meantime.

Thanks Meredydd, thats awesome and would be fantastic as a built in addon to the users service as well (didnt even think about that, because I was thinking it would be easy enough to build in manually but adding it in as part of the service is even better).

Ahh thats good so you can disable the password access and just keep it google thats probably what I will do then

I’ll just leave this here :grinning::
