Anvil Server Save Error

Dear Anvil Staff,

I am having a server error when working on my anvil application. Here is the error I am getting…

I get this same message. In my case, it seems to occur when I have

a large app, and
I try to close the IDE too soon after saving

If you have unsaved changes at time of close, then the IDE must save them before it closes.

In my case, saving can take up to 15 seconds.

My workaround: Before closing the IDE:

Explicitly save.
Monitor the save (via “View History” button). When the latest save shows in the history list, then I know it’s okay to close the IDE.

I’m getting this now, even with my usual precautions. I’m going to shut down my browser entirely, and try again.

Edit: That was no help. Switching from Chrome to Firefox…

Edit: That seems to have helped. The Save still times out, but the changes I made were preserved.

I’ll try rebooting.

Edit: Rebooting didn’t help. I’ve followed instructions and written to support@anvil.works .

I wonder if upgrading my plan will give me a faster back-end

We are currently investigating these issues, there is definitely something out of the ordinary going on. It seems to be a geographic issue, as we haven’t been able to reproduce it from any connections here in the UK.

Hi folks,

We think speeds seem to be back to normal now, so this might have been a transient routing change earlier in the day, somewhere between the UK and, well, everywhere else. In any case, we will keep a close eye on things for the next couple of days. Please post here if you see any further issues.

Problem seems to have returned. Auto-save is timing out.

Status update: We think we’ve found the issue, and we’re working on a fix now.

Hello,

I have been having this issue since the weekend - thought it might get sorted after reading the thread, but still experiencing it. Am I close to my data limits by any chance?
