Dave is a senior IT executive who has maintained a very deep technical bench of the latest technologies and their applications while focusing on continuously developing his leadership and business skills throughout his career.
Career Summary
Dave’s formidable combination of skills and experience has been most notably propelled by the experience of building and operating ENKI, an IT services company. ENKI delivered a deep service catalog of cloud-based offerings with dedication to industry-leading SLAs while maintaining good margins in a highly competitive market. ENKI was run profitably and successfully sold to Zayo Group, a billion-dollar multinational.
Earlier in his career, Dave was hired as the CIO and first employee of the the startup NetLedger, which later became NetSuite. NetLedger was ready to launch an online competitor to QuickBooks, which required a flexible, creative, and adaptable leader with detailed experience in application deployment, network, systems, database, data center design and management to provide infrastructure and DevOps leadership in building the world’s first cloud-based SaaS delivery stack.
Prior to working at NetSuite, Dave’s years of senior IT and management consulting in Silicon Valley have given him a unique blend of problem solving skills, management (complex projects, teams, international teams) and strong business acumen.
Leadership
After working in management at a number of Silicon Valley businesses, Dave became curious why some leadership and management approaches work, and others don’t. After reading about human and organizational psychology, Dave embarked on a path of self-inquiry to find a deep understanding of the motivations and expressions of people’s reactions to their circumstances. This led to Dave’s association with CoreLight, an organization dedicated to training people in self-discovery and in how to achieve their ultimate potential, and his certification as a teacher of their method.
In his positions as CEO of ENKI, working as a senior director at Zayo, and in a major consulting engagement at Zuora, Dave found that his training with CoreLight allowed him to understand the human equation in each organization and maximize both his contribution as well as that of the teams and individuals that he led, and was critical in deeply aligning with business objectives and stakeholders. He found these skills applicable to making the deep motivational connections with people that power success not only in technical leadership but also in marketing, sales, and customer-focused roles.
