This is an answer to which the CSS language has a long and complicated set of answers, based on the specific code used! In an ideal world, your custom CSS and the M3 theme are targeting different elements, and the issue does not come up. (We’ve aimed for this, so that you can add the M3 theme to existing apps as far as possible.) Otherwise, you may need to adjust your custom styling to fit.
