Content Suggestions

  1. Automated testing. I have seen a lot of discussion here about it, but I have yet to see an elegant approach.
  2. External collaboration via GitHub (open source projects, etc.). Again, I have seen a lot of discussion (some outdated) and have yet to see an elegant solution outside of just collaborating within Anvil via the Business Plan.

I feel like there’s an ‘Anvily’ way to do things, or there should be, similar to how there are ‘Pythonic’ ways to do things.

A good idea would be to have a tutorial and more detailed advise how to build an anvil app fit for mobile (PWA). How to combine local (mobile) datastores with server side data, caching.

It would be nice if we would have more material design widgets to our disposal (also those fit for mobile development).

I’ve been hoping to see a tutorial on integrating Anvil with IoT devices. Would be cool to see how it’s done in a real-world scenario.

Have you seen this one? Get Started with the Pico W (anvil.works)

If so, can you say more about what you’re looking for, beyond that?

Definitely me and maybe also many other people with some SaaS app in mind would appreciate that!

Why? SEO was and is up to today my single biggest concern about choosing Anvil as the eco-system for my SaaS-App.

A post was merged into an existing topic: Requests for help from China

  1. More help videos
  2. Translate Guides to another langs

@Ilqar are you able to specify exactly which kinds of help tutorials you are looking for?

We need more detailed helps about Anvil’s specific topics such as Data bindings, Repeating Panels and so on.
Moreover, Guides and Helps should accumulate Forum’s topic and cases so that Developers using Anvil will understand before starting projects what they can build in Anvil and what cannot

Hello everyone,

I was wondering; is there any reason why the changelog hasn’t been updated yet for february 2024?

Thanks, Pieter ter Doest

Done by somebody! I don’t know who updated it but thanks!

I agree, this is a really good idea. Knowing how to do this for both ios and android would be great.

Okay, I want to link to OpenAI APIs for ChatGPT. This might include links for text and voice in ChatGPT 4 o. There’s a video on YouTube that provides an overview on this (for plain vanilla ChatGPT) but I believe there’s nothing in the Anvil site for it. I’m hoping to focus a lot on this in the next year so some documentation would be very useful. My guess is some other folks might be working on similar projects as well. Both documentation and a tutorial might be very useful. And thanks for inviting suggestions!

This may be more a feature request than content suggestion, but I need to be able to allow search engines to index content in the site and to bring visitors to see exactly that content. I’ve looked at old threads in the forum but nothing seems to address this. So if I create a form in a dictionary for the term “Hallucination”, I want the SEO to allow, say, Google to find it, and then to allow Google to provide that as a response to a search request, and then bring the user to that form on my Anvil app. Some documentation on this would be most helpful.

The SEO limitation has been a real limitation for a long time.

But a new feature added recently can mitigate the problem: Serve anything, anywhere on your domain, with @anvil.server.route()

The new feature is still incomplete, and getting your app to play nice with SEOs will take some effort, but the limitation is finally disappearing.

So at this point I would say that this really qualifies for a content suggestion, rather than feature request.

Thank you so much. Kudos for the development effort!

definitely, this sounds great!

Hello,

I am an educator. I would like some video tutorials to assist students to create layouts and navigation links as well as using CSS to style an App changing colour themes and fonts.

I would also like video tutorials to explain how to create working checklists and integrate a timer into an App.

Agreed. That would assist students and teachers new to Anvil.
