I’d like to be able to give alpha & beta testers of my software an indication of which build they are using.
This is not so much for my benefit (I know they are using the published, live version) but more for a visual indication of build activity for the customer as I semi-live build some apps.
Currently I update a label on the main page, but I do forget sometimes. An automatic build number or an additional app.build_name that would show the saved name of the published app? Maybe even an auto_increment ID to replace the saved name if it was omitted? Maybe a published_on or saved_on date/time stamp?
Dunno really, just throwing it out there
